Dressing Down

As someone who sort of lives for this whole effortlessly-cool/definitely-did-not-take-2-hours-to-get-ready-even-though-we-all-know-that-I-did vibe, I am all for the dressing-down trend, which was all over the runway/the streets during MSFW. Whether it be adding a white sneaker to a seemingly dressy dress, or adding a chunky daytime bag to a delicate, monochromatic look, I am totally all about it. Having immersed myself in this trend for quite some time now (I’ve been wearing Chuck Taylors with almost everything since 2006 and have yet to ever successfully pull-off a bodycon dress – likely due to my lack of lady lumps) I feel quite comfortable in this genre of dressing. With the opportunity to collaborate with Australian brand Friend of Audrey (as in Audrey Hepburn – my biggest inspiration second to Carrie Bradshaw – duh), I wanted to show you a couple of different ways you could play around with their new spring/summer collection.

I am all about adding delicate, fine jewellery to an outfit – this adds a less-is-more detail look

A chunky daytime bag instead of a delicate clutch dresses a look down – totally chic

One grey marl bonded cut-out dress; two ways – so about dressing down a somewhat fancy cocktail dress – loose trench & sneakers OR turn it into a skirt with an oversized tee & monochromatic cape
