Holiday Wear

Given the opportunity to work with Target Australia to show you some of their summer-wear and beachside must-haves, I figured Waikiki Beach was probably the ideal location to shoot some of my favourite seasonal pieces.

With the chambray trend making a huge come-back this season, I was quick to jump on board (hashtag puns) with any trend promoting light linen pieces, particularly of the striped and crinkled variety. Having never stretched myself too far with colour [occasionally I will dabble in burgundy/blush/navy/camel/sometimes-but-barely-ever-red tones] the whole navy/grey/white colour scheme of the trend suits me just fine. Plus any excuse to appear like I am perhaps, in fact, about to board a boat, is a look I am totally about. The first look was inspired by beachside wear. An outfit I chucked on over my bikinis after necessary swim/tan/beach situation and wore to stroll around the Island with a coconut. The second look was inspired by the sunset over the beach, tropical cocktails at 5PM & Japanese dinners at Roy’s Waikiki. Here I opted for a three-quarter sleeve and pyjama inspired holiday short.

  1. I like chambray. It’s light and subtle in nature, and looks to compliment the sand and jaunty waters very casually. But I have to say I do adore the black ribbon, but I’m a bit bias, as I like anything that highlights the neck. Especially Up-do(s) that display the nape of the neck. Being a guy my goto for the summer is generally kept simple and limited (although certainly that doesn’t always have to be the case). I keep it light with a white button down that breathes well with sleeves rolled. I also like light airy slubs, in henleys and such, in white/aqua/turquoise/salmon. Bottoms are just the standard fare, changing with the location on or off the sand, day or night. I don’t wear watches (since the advent of the cellphone) as they wear me down, but I do have a simple leather bracelet (flat) by Redmoon (bought in Okinawa) that I’ll wear on occasion.

Love the location. It makes me miss the island life.
